🚗 How Our Students Built a Ride-Sharing App from Scratch At Meander, we believe in building real-world, portfolio-worthy projects—not just tutorials. One of our most exciting capstone projects? A fully functional Ride-Sharing App, built by students from scratch. Here’s how they did it 👇
🧠
1. Started with a Real Problem Instead of cloning Uber, students focused on:
- Local ride requests within colleges/townships
- Basic pickup/drop system
- Rider-driver matching without GPS dependency
🎯
Solving a real, simplified version of a complex system.
🧩
2. Designed the Full User Flow They created 2 user journeys:
- Rider App – Request ride, track status, confirm ride
- Driver App – Accept/reject rides, update status, see ride history
🛠 Tools Used: Figma, Whimsical, Canva 🎯
Clear UI/UX = faster development and better experience.
🔧
3. Built the Backend API Using
Node.js + NestJS, they built:
- Auth system with JWT
- Ride request & response APIs
- Driver availability tracking
- Role-based access for users and drivers
🗃 DB: PostgreSQL + Prisma 🎯
This wasn’t dummy code—it was built to scale.
📱
4. Developed Cross-Platform Apps Using
React Native, the team built:
- Clean rider and driver interfaces
- Real-time ride updates
- Responsive UI for both iOS & Android
🛠 Tools Used: Expo, React Navigation, Axios 🎯
Built once. Worked everywhere.
🧪
5. Tested, Deployed & Demoed Final steps included:
- Manual and API testing via Postman
- Deployment on Render & Firebase
- Live project walkthrough and Q&A with mentors
🎯
They finished with a deployed app + clean GitHub + live demo.
✅ Final Outcome Students walked away with:
- A real project solving a real problem
- A working ride-sharing app to show in interviews
- Confidence to say: “Yes, I’ve built that.”
🔚 Final Thought This wasn’t a clone.
It was
teamwork, tech, and thinking—put together to build something real. That’s what Meander is all about.
Build smart. Build real. Build your future.
